Even as a kid I knew I would be a tattoo artist !!
Of course, I started out by hand poking tattoos on myself and by age nine I was "tattooing" my friends. The tattoos were hand poked and performed under crude methods. Most of the kids got in trouble for letting me mark them, but it was my start to a great future.
When I turned eighteen I purchased "electric" tattoo machines and continued tattooing family and friends. Back then tattooing was still a "secret' art and the older artists were not as willing to share their knowledge as they are today. [Apprenticeships are now available and if you are thinking about tattooing you should apprentice under an experienced, professional artist.] Sure, I got some tips along the way from other artist, but I acquired my own personal style. I am considered a "self taught" tattoo artist.
In 1990, after years of tattooing I opened a small public studio. The first location was behind the old barbershop, were I worked by myself for a couple of years. Upgrading over the years, and in 2002 moving to our present location [112 Lancaster Ave.] I now have other artists and staff working with me.
I have always tattooed, and I always will tattoo. I love giving tattoos, and I love getting tattooed. Tattooing is my life, and how I make my living. Tattooing will always be a part of me, as I will be a part of it.
Check out some photos below.
Note: Actual tattoos are clearer than photos.
