Main Line Tattooing
- Bernadette, Artist

Conceived on the sandy shore of Avalon, New Jersey, I was heavily influenced by artistic swimmers. Memories at age 3 of drawing on 12 ft. walls with crayons, red Paris lipstick, etc., knowing then, art was it. I scribbled on book covers, jeans, railway walls and flesh. At age 10 my mom kept me home from school to help her paint on studio photographs into the early morning hours. Mom painted for seven photographers in the Darby, Pennsylvania area where I was born. My greatest teacher was my mom. Mom swam with "Tattooman" Paul Rogers as a high diver at the New Jerseys Steel Pier. The thought of inking flesh with these hands, I knew would come. I left home at age 16, graduated Darby High School, joined the U.S. Army playing medic and traveling the woods of Germany. I got my first tattoo there by Griffiant "Love" across my fingers. I finished up the 4 year Army tour in Massachusetts getting inked in Connecticut. I landed a job airbrushing on Clearwater Beach, Florida with hundreds of airhead artist. Crossed into "Star & Sues" were Star kicked started my heart inking me up.

I moved back to Pennsylvania which opened the door with Marty Riley in Southwest Philadelphia at the Empire. Tattooing was as different to me then any job anywhere. I hung out with Marty for awhile. One day I asked R.C. for a spot, and R.C. took me in the old schoolway. Thanks R. forever.

Coney Island Joe stopped into R's one day and a few months after I was hungerily learning by his side. Joe taught me so much. Thanks Joe.

One winter, brush painting holiday scenes on store front windows, I talked with Jason Goldberg, an old airbrush friend who turned me onto Mike at Main Line Tattooing. He was looking for a female artist and I jumped in. Learning much more about ink. How'd I get so lucky.
